By the age of 18, most people are in college. A shortage of college-aged drivers would create a need for more public transportation.

Changing the driving age to 21 would not be fair, especially since adults would also lose the privilege. We don`t need to make laws or adopt a culture just because other people are doing the same. When it comes to the legal age of driving, Germany and other European countries are different from the United States, have different cultures, different routes, and different laws. Assuming their driving age will not give us exactly the same results as them. Although Germany does not allow its teenagers to get a driver`s license before the age of 18, it still allows them to drive at 17 as long as they are supervised by adults. I have been living in Germany for 12 years and I can tell you that their roads are much more complicated and dangerous than ours. They have a case for their higher legal age. Young drivers cause most accidents due to inexperience, not lack of maturity. No matter how old people start driving, they will have accidents because they have little experience. This question arises only because young people are easily to blame. An adult who has just started driving statistically has as many accidents as a young person. It`s not ALL teenagers who are dangerous, just a small percentage. Did you know that men are 77% more likely to kill someone while driving than women, which means we just have to let women drive? It`s the same thing you unfairly stereotype teenagers! Also, what would happen if 18-year-olds got their licence at the age of 16, which completely refutes your point of view when you said that studies show that 16-year-olds have more car accidents than 18-year-olds! As if the brain of a 21-year-old was not more developed than that of an 18-year-old? And think about it, but most of the hoons on the street are 20 years old, not their teenagers.

In the vast majority of states, the legal age for unattended driving is 16. The youngest legal drivers in South Dakota are 14 years and 6 months old, while the oldest minimum age in New Jersey is set at 17. In Pennsylvania, the minimum age for unattended driving is set at 16 years and 6 months. Personally, I believe that the age of the driver should be raised to 18 years. Most European countries have raised the driving age to 18 and they seem to be doing well. Germany is a good example. Why not follow their example? In my opinion, there are better alternatives that can be much more effective in increasing safety on our roads, and therefore increasing the driving age may not make too much sense. This luxury is also more convenient for parents, as they are not responsible for driving their children to school or practices. People have this overly assertive stance towards 16-year-old drivers to drive and believe that they should take the initiative to raise the legal age to start at 18. I cannot make assumptions about the general population of teenagers because of a tiny percentage of other teenagers who are irresponsible.

A lack of maturity does not matter in these situations, because learning to drive is acquired through experience. As an 18-year-old, as a driver, you don`t have to have any requirements other than to take the driving test to get your driver`s license. .
